Little Flamingo's Little World

Once upon a time there was a bird called Flamingo. She had a baby bird that she named Little Flamingo, or Flaminguito. By the time Flaminguito turned one year old, she was doing a lot of funny things that Flamingo wanted to share with all the other birds in her flock. When a friend from the monkey exhibit at the Zoo told her about a blog, she decided to start one of her own...then two little baby blue birds came along and she added their antics to her blog, too...this is Flaminguito's blog.

Yes, She's cute...but also very sneaky...

A 9-1-1 Call Transcript:

-click- -click- ( hmmm, I can't seem to get a dial tone, I think to myself) -click- -click-

Finally I say, "Hello?" (just to check)

~Hello, this is 9-1-1

-Oh, ummmm...(okay, who called whom, I think to myself...then I realize, 9-1-1 doesn't call you, YOU call them...) Uh, sorry, I think my daughter must have called you.

~Okay, is everything all right?

-oh, yes, fine, I was in the shower, she must have gotten the phone...sorry, I'll put it further out of her reach.

~Thank you, we'd appreciate it.

-Thank you.

~Have a nice day.

-You too, thanks.

(Hmmm, she was nice, I'm thinking to myself as I start to dry my hair and brush my teeth...but I wonder why the little bird had the phone...)

So I go to the base of it to check the messages, sure enough, there's a message from my insurance agent...well, 1/2 a message, so I call her back and learn that Flaminguito answered her call 1/2 way through it...with things like "ohhh, hiyeeee, hello? Mommyyyyyy? Mommmmyyyyyy?!? This must have been when she started hitting the shower door with the phone, which hurried the rest of my shower up. Once the agent heard me say I'd be out of the shower soon, she said she hung up and giggled for a while, remembering when her kids were little, she figured I'd call her back when I was done.

A few minutes later...

-knock-knock-knock-

I go to the door with wet hair and leave a 1/2 dressed little bird in her bedroom.

I see a police officer.

-um, hello?

-Yes, hello ma'am, we had a 9-1-1 hang up from this address...is everything okay?

-yes, fine, sorry, my daughter called while I was in the shower, I've already moved the phone out of her reach. I already talked to the 9-1-1 operator. I'm sorry!

-that's okay (he's looking around, checking things out)

-would you like to talk to her?

-sure, if you'd like me to.

I go to get her from her room...she's climbed up and over her crib and is straddling the top rail...I'm so glad she didn't fall...and doubly glad she didn't do it while he was at the door. I bring her out.

-hi sweetheart...did you call me?

She smiles, and mumbles sort of a yeah.

-well, it was nice talking to you...

He's her friend now...

-bye bye! With big, emphatic arm waves -bye bye, bye bye, bye bye.

-Bye ma'am , thank you, have a nice day...

Wow, what a beginning to my day, the rest was fairly nice, but I had no idea one little shower alone could get so much attention!

Happy Easter!
He is Risen!

After church, we came home to take photos before heading out on a hike, but she was only interested in playing (too much sitting still at church, I think). So we took pictures of her doing that, instead. Still can't figure out the rotation on the pictures below, though, sorry!
Okay, I don't know how to rotate a picture in my blog yet, so bear with me (and if you have any tips, please let me know!). Here's the chick checking out her Easter basket, her favorite part was the candy, she ate about 3 mini Hershey bars and then didn't care much for the rest of her breakfast, wonder why?
Coloring My Easter Eggs
First we boiled the eggs with onion skins to change their color to a pretty brownish-pink, it also changes the taste, we're told, but we haven't tried eating them yet. Then we added a couple drops of blue and yellow food coloring to some bowls and got these pretty eggs. Thanks for the idea, Mike!
