Little Flamingo's Little World

Once upon a time there was a bird called Flamingo. She had a baby bird that she named Little Flamingo, or Flaminguito. By the time Flaminguito turned one year old, she was doing a lot of funny things that Flamingo wanted to share with all the other birds in her flock. When a friend from the monkey exhibit at the Zoo told her about a blog, she decided to start one of her own...then two little baby blue birds came along and she added their antics to her blog, too...this is Flaminguito's blog.

Welcome back! I know we've been absent from the blogging world for quite some time, but we're back now, and better than ever, the entire flamingo family is now functioning on a working computer that doesn't shut down when we log on to the internet or when we view pictures, so we're thrilled...and we're thrilled that you can see pictures of flaminguito again! Not wanting to burden you (or us) with going through what we've missed, we thought we'd just pick up from here. So here's a recent recap...we had a great snow storm a few weeks ago...8 inches in a day! And the little bird and Mommy and Daddy birds had a lot of fun, these are just a couple of pictures from it that weren't included in the last e-mail I sent out.

Sometimes we're just a little too cool for snow, in our footies and boots and froggie glasses, you know how it is.

We all made snow angels, Mommy bird, Flaminguito and the new baby...what?! The new baby? Her name's Brenda, she's a Cabbage Patch from Christmas last year, she's a part of the family now.

Ever wonder what would happen if you tossed goldfish crackers out before a big ice storm and then went to shovel the walk and de-ice the drive? The fish seem to swim under the ice! Isn't that fascinating?

This is our ballerina (doweena) friend we made, we wanted to put a tutu on her, but it didn't fit around her waist, so we put it in her "snow hair". She was a two-faced snowgirl so we could see her from inside the house and out on the street.

The little bird put the finishing touches on our snow doweena (ballerina) before moving on to the next project...

a princess chair for the bird to sit in for about, oh...10 seconds and then we went inside...by the next day, it started to melt and all our work was soon melted away...so....

We found other ways to have fun...like hot (warm) curlers in our hair with old Halloween costumes on!
Aren't they lovely?

And finding creative ways to wear bales of hay from her Noah's Ark toy...

And then, all of a sudden, the weather warmed up...a lot...and we started hearing lots of birds chirping by the river, so we decided to make bird feeders out of oranges, peanut butter and bird seed...

It was a messy, gooey, lot of fun...

Hungry, anyone?

Some "fancy" shots I had fun with...

Sunlight on snow covered branches.

Daddy and Toddler Bird trudging through the snow.

The big splash.

Find Flaminguito...kind of like "Where's Waldo?," but different.

Tying My Shoes

When the little bird came out of her bedroom with shoes on to go for a walk, she was missing the laces...I said, "Go choose some shoes with laces, so you can walk better..." Several minutes later, she was still in her bedroom..."What are you doing," I asked. "Just putting laces...I'm lacing." Hmmm...thought I...I'd better check this out. Sure enough, she was lacing...This is her work...

Very carefully, she put the shoelace through each hole in the shoe...

Then she tried to loop it. Frustrated, she turned to me and I asked if she'd like help. She agreed, so I asked where she'd like me to tie it...right there, she said, so I did. I tied the knot, she did the rest.

With the other shoe, she laced most of it but was anxious to get out (or maybe that was my cajoling her) so she didn't get every hole, then she asked me to tie it and I put the pretty bow, she did the rest, aren't they pretty?

Mmmm...I just woke up and wanted some toast and jam...but it's a bit messy.

Whoo-eee! A present...for meeee? So nice of Grandma!

Happy Balentine's (Valentine's) Day!

A Tribute to my Grandfather who passed away February 8, 2008. He was the Great Grandfather Bird to Flaminguito.

JOHN 11:25 NKJ 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."

The plane in which he flew to Easter Island in the first-ever flight to the island with the Chilean Air Force.

He is the handsome man pictured 4th from the right with the rest of his crew for which he was Commander.
You will be missed, Grandfather, but your memory will live on forever. We love you.Posted by Picasa
