Little Flamingo's Little World

Once upon a time there was a bird called Flamingo. She had a baby bird that she named Little Flamingo, or Flaminguito. By the time Flaminguito turned one year old, she was doing a lot of funny things that Flamingo wanted to share with all the other birds in her flock. When a friend from the monkey exhibit at the Zoo told her about a blog, she decided to start one of her own...then two little baby blue birds came along and she added their antics to her blog, too...this is Flaminguito's blog.

It always seems spring sort of sneaks up on us...we hustle through winter as fast as we can, trying to move quickly just to stay warm, then it's time to think of planting lettuce and turning on sprinklers...and you know what that means...mud, glorious mud!  My boys (and my girl) all love mud.  Particularly the two oldest boys...this picture has a fun story, though you only get to see this photograph with it...I am inside doing dishes when he comes to the sliding door, which is open for the fresh air and so I can hear them playing, he says (and my back is turned to him), "Mom!  My underwears got wet, and a little dirty...so I took them off.  Now I need a hot shower."  Huh?  So I turn around...now, I know they were in the mud, but you can imagine my surprise when all I see is this...no underwear, just mud...all. over. him. except for the parts the underwear covers,  So I tell him to stay right there...I run into the living room, grab the camera, snap a few shots, and bring him a "hot bath" outside...ain't no way I was bringing that mud through my house!  What follows aren't as dirty...a trip to a raptor exhibit, a weekend retreat at a cabin I took with the baby bird, and flaminguito's artwork on display at WSU here in town...pretty proud of that.  We also stepped into the school library and got to see a gigantic skull from the Cretaceous period...check out this huge head!
